"Proclaiming God's Eternal Plan for Israel"

UN

One of the goals for Song For Israel is to keep you informed about current events as they relate to Israel. This week is a very important week for Israel! Representatives from each nation are visiting the United Nations building in Washington DC and the hot topic is Palestinian statehood. In the previous post, you can read about some of that background and here are a few videos to watch from Friday at the UN. President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, of Iran, ranted about Israel and the support of the United States. Listen to him declare that the United States killed Osama Bin Ladin as a 9/11 cover up. He made offensive and controversial statements that irritated US members enough to walk out. 27 members of the Europeon union followed the US out the door in that General Assembly. He makes mention of the holocaust, US slavery and spewed hatred against us and Israel.

President Abbas shared in the General Assembly too and made some interesting statements about Israel. He referred to Israel as occupying Palestinian land for 63 years. Does that mean that they believe they should occupy ALL the land of Israel? Is he saying that Tel Aviv is Palestinian land? Israel became a state 63 years ago. Was this a mistake? Did he mean to reference the 1967 borders and not Israel's statehood?

In striking contrast, a calm Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netananyahu, pledged peace with the Palestinians, pleaded with Palestinian Leader, Abbas, to go back to the negotiating table. Peace will not be acquired by a unilateral decision to become a state. Israel is willing to give up land for peace, but Abbas refuses to come to the negotiating table and refuses to even recognize Israel's existence as a state. He makes mention of his visit yesterday to the Twin Towers Memorial and gave tribute to those who lost their lives in that terrorist attack.

"In Israel, Our Hope for Peace Never Wanes"

The most important day to be in prayer will be Monday as the UN take a vote about Palestinian statehood without negotiations, without any promise for peace. Stay tuned for our next post.

Many do not understand the beginnings of the Arab/Israeli peace process. You are invited to a three-part series beginning Sunday, September 25th at 10:45 a.m. at Friends Church Yorba Linda in room 113. Part 2 - October 2 and Part 3 - October 9th.
