A Jewish Wedding in the Judean Desert in Israel

I was invited to the wedding for the son of Shmuel Bowman, our bomb shelter liaison. The wedding was held at a beautiful facility in the Judean Desert. In Jewish tradition, the wedding took place under a chuppah; the bride circled the groom seven times; the ketubah was read aloud, signed and given to the bride, signifying that she agreed to the terms of the contract (which are legally binding in Israel); the bride and groom covered themselves in a talit (prayer shawl) signifying their unity; and there was a lot of lively music throughout the evening.

Dinner was served and I was seated among leaders from around the world, all connected to the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem, which is where our bomb shelter donations are given before they go to Shmuel at Operation Lifeshield.

After a very warm day, it lightly sprinkled during the wedding. However, everyone breathed a sigh of relief that no sirens sounded during the entire evening. The last photo was taken overlooking the village of Efrat, which is near Hebron.

Below are pictures from that wedding.
