Israel in the News this Week
First of all, some good news--Hadar Golden, a soldier killed and kidnapped 11 years ago, came home today. Approximately 20,000 people showed up at his funeral, and it was televised nationally. This closed a painful chapter for the country. When Israel has a loss, the entire nation grieves together.
It appears that only four bodies of hostages remain in Gaza.
USA Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff are meeting with Prime Minister Netanyahu regarding the next phase of the Gaza ceasefire. Kushner was helping to lead negotiations to secure safe passage for 150-200 trapped Hamas militants in exchange for surrendering their weapons after the release of Goldin’s remains.
Hamas has not commented on a possible exchange for its fighters stuck in the so-called yellow zone, which is controlled by Israeli forces, though they acknowledged that clashes were taking place there.
The next stage of the agreement calls for the implementation of a governing body for Gaza and the deployment of an international stabilization force. It is not clear where either stands.
Please pray for each hostage as they transition to life outside of Gaza, and that God would heal their bodies from what they have gone through.
